Hummus Bros - Soho

88 Wardour Street

London

So it’s my first meal out in London since I returned from China, and I have to say I am relishing not eating Chinese food right now.  Having eaten Chinese for breakfast, lunch and dinner whilst I was away, the joy of Western food hasn’t worn off!

My housemates and I were going to the theatre (to see The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time, which was incredible and I would most definitely recommend), so we needed something quick yet yummy to squeeze in after work, deciding on Hummus Bros.  Although conveniently located in Soho, I was still worried that there would be a queue and we would run late, thus I ran from work and took no prisoners on the tube.  Surprisingly it was quite empty but I guess that’s because it was only 6.15pm – it did get busier from 6.30pm and with the small but intimate restaurant only seating a few tables I was glad to have been early.

With the tag line “Think outside the sandwich” it’s refreshing to know there’s somewhere new to go for lunch that’s not too expensive and has a healthy variety.  The menu is simple yet delightful – ‘hummus with chicken, ‘hummus with chunky beef’, ‘hummus with fava beans’ (you get the idea) and then a side of pitta or gluten free bread.  Side orders include sun-dried tomatoes, feta cheese, tortilla chips and many more so there is definitely something for everyone.  You can order in two sizes, either small or regular, and since we went for dinner the girls and I thought we would go regular – it is dinner after all.  And oh were we wrong, the portions are generous!  Grace and I ordered hummus, chicken and a side of gluten free bread, whilst Nia opted for pitta (I slightly regretted my decision since the pitta was amazing) – everything was gorgeous, a little taste of Turkey.  The food arrived within 10 minutes, perfect pre-theatre dining, and would be great if you wanted to go on your lunch hour.
